Revitalize 2025: The Five Pillars of Revitalization

Revitalize 2025

The Five Pillars of Revitalization

Acts 2:41-47

1. Devotion (v. 42)

a. To the teaching of Scripture (v. 42, 46), to the fellowship of the believers (v. 42, 46), to the ordinances (v. 42, 41), to prayer. (v. 42)

b. Revitalization is not an emotional experience. It is the shaping of our hearts in devotion to God.

c. Biblical devotion begins with recognizing your sin, confessing it before God, and trusting in Christ.

Have you trusted in Christ?
Do you love to study Scripture?
Do you love to spend time with other believers?
Do you cherish the Lord’s table?
Do you persevere fervently in prayer?
Are you willing to be devoted to the things God wants you to be devoted to?
Pray that God would cause your heart to be devoted to Him in these ways.

2. Awe (v. 43)

a. The early church was amazed by what God was doing in their lives. (v. 43)

b. A sense of awe cultivates a heart of worship. (v.43 & 47)- Luke 7:36-48- woman puts oil on Jesus’ feet

c. Many Christians need to desperately ask God to restore a sense of awe in His presence.

Have you been forgiven much? Are you still amazed at what God has forgiven you for?
Are you amazed at what God does for other people, through Christ?
Is your life marked by an attitude of worship?
Pray that God would make you awestruck in His presence: not just tonight, not just for the remainder of this revival, but throughout each day of your life. Seek to go through each day in amazement of who God is and what He has done.

3. Compassion (v. 45)

a. The early church put the needs of others before their own, showing a Christ-like love within the church.

b. Revitalization will orient our hearts to sacrificially care for others as Christ has sacrificially cared for us.

In what ways have you put others before yourself this week?
Has the way you’ve treated others, especially brothers and sisters in Christ, provided an example of Christ-like love and humility?
Are there any sinful behaviors/attitudes that have been affecting the way you treat people?
Pray that God would shape your character each day to resemble Christ more closely. Repent of any sins that have prevented you from demonstrating the compassion of Christ to others.

4. Evangelism (v. 47)

a. If we want to see God add to our number those who are being saved, we must be laborers in the harvest.

Matthew 9:37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few;

b. Many people say they want the results, but few people want to do the work necessary to see the results.

c. Evangelism requires time, preparation, courage, and love. It’s not easy, but it’s worth it.

When was the last time you labored in evangelism?
Who could you reach out to this week with the Gospel of Jesus Christ?
Do you believe that God can save that person through the Gospel of Jesus Christ?
Pray that God will give you an opportunity to share the Gospel with that person this week. Pray that God will give you the time to talk with that person, that He’ll prepare you to share the Gospel, that He will equip you with courage to talk to them about Christ, and that He will give you a love for them so strong that you can’t help but tell them about Christ.

5. Faith (v. 41, 47)

The passage is bookended by salvations through faith in Christ. Revitalization starts with faith in Jesus Christ. Faith makes us devoted, awestruck, compassionate, and evangelistic as we are affected by Christ’s work on the cross for us.
